Welcome

This is my blog madeover to include other residents of Pleasantview as I try my hand at running it from their point of view.

There is a bit of strategic nudity occasionally and I write as I feel the sims would talk so there is also "adult language." (that makes me laugh.....so how adult am I?) Anywho, you've been warned!

You Won't Believe it!

So my game crashed Friday.....I mean really just went caput and I've had to start over. I can't believe it! My entire legacy family is gone, other than the few characters I had packaged. I hadn't backed my game up in a long time and instead of back tracking by months, I've decided to simply erase all the hoods that came with the game and start my own.......the few characters that I could save will serve as townies. So the Taylor bloodline isn't completely lost. My game will now be backed up VERY REGULARLY as I cannot stand starting over again.......I spent the weekend building my city and have gotten pretty far along with it. It's called Crystal Bay and can be found here. For those of you who were actually following my blog, please continue to do so with Crystal Bay.

Grand Opening

Pleasantview Elementary School - Round 1 - September 2009

Craig Ray is the current principal/teacher until a fulltime teacher is hired.

PVES is located in the Pleasantview suburbs and is dedicated to quality education of Pleasantview's youth. The school has a music/art room, library, and classroom where students can gain the skills they need to be successful upon graduation.

School begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students arrive on campus and head to their assigned classes for the morning. Students have lunch at noon and then head off to their afternoon classes and depart for home at 3:00 p.m.

Kayden Erikson looks on as Arlena McGaw composes music on the synthesizer. The art/music room also had an activity table for building logic and painting pictures, easels, and a violin. This is room is very popular among the students. Jalice Love, Katelyn Curtin, and Isaiah Gavigan head into the library to begin their study session. Library time is scheduled in so that the students can enjoy reading for leisure or can study select skills.Isaiah and Jalice opt to play a spirited game of chess instead of reading or working on the computers. Students usually arent too good at chess upon first entering PVES, but with practice, become very skilled at it.

Katelyn decides to study while in the library. While this is a scheduled period, students get to decide how they will spend their time while here. That is, as long as they are doing something educational!Ashlee Wade and Gallagher Newson are in the classroom doing gradework. While this is the students' least favorite activity, it is very important that they finish their gradework as it affects the grade they will receive! Craig Ray (not pictured) tries to make gradework as fun as he can.

But PVES is not all work and no play! Students receive a recess time where they can use the playground equipment, or make their own fun as Gallagher and Ashlee are doing here as they toss the football.
PVES - Where Learning is Key!
*It need works, but I think it's off to a pretty good start! Eventually the townie kids will be replaced by playables....they won't be killed off or anything, they'll "move away." By the way, I built it! Can you believe it? I freaking SUCK at building stuff, but I am very proud of this!!!

They Grow Up So Fast!

Rotation 1: September 2009

Craig is 48, Kasha is 42, Tyler is 15, Ryder is 2, Christa and DeAndre McMillan are 21

Narrated By: Craig Ray

I can't believe I'm almost 50 years old! I'm turning into "that old guy." Where have the years gone? Christa's off at school and a mother and Tyler will be headed off to college soon......geez! Pleasantview has come under a new government, and while most residents seem to be pissed about this, it doesn't really bother me. Do I WANT to pay taxes? Of course not! But I would like to know that if the city needed something, it would be there. It doesn't hurt that Mayor Harris has named me Director of Education and put me in charge of Pleasantview Elementary School (PVES). I think that this is all going to work out pretty well for everyone if we can simply come to terms with it.
Every since Anna died, Kasha has been painting like crazy! She wants to be sure that her mother's shop continues to turn a profit. Picture This! has been around for years and I'm trying to convince her that it isn't going anywhere. She's doing a wonderful job managing it.
Christa came for a visit and brought a guy with her. She's been in school for 2 years, and we haven't so much as heard her MENTION any guys, so I figure this DeAndre McMillan must be special to her......hmph, we'll see about that. I refuse to have another Tyson situation on my hands! I was working when they came over so Kasha started the questioning for me!
She asked him about his intentions with Christa and he said they were just friends, but he wanted to be so much more. Kasha thinks it's sweet, but I'm reserving my final opinion for later! Kasha explained to him that Christa has been hurt and he said that he's willing to wait until she feels she's ready........now that's a line if I ever heard one!
Christa misses Ryder so much that it makes all of us sad. By the time she graduates, he'll be starting preschool. But she'll have a good education and will be able to take care of him. I gotta admit, when she first told us she was pregnant, I was ready to kill her. She was throwing her whole life away. But Ryder is the sunshine of all of our lives and I'm so glad he's here!
She introduced DeAndre to Ryder, who promptly closed his eyes. Ryder is a very shy child and takes a while to warm up to people. DeAndre seems to be a pretty patient guy, and he claims that he loves children.
He actually got Ryder to open up to him and they sat on the floor playing peek a boo for over an hour. Maybe DeAndre is a nice guy, but I don't want my baby girl getting hurt again.....or I might have to go to jail!
DeAndre has even won Tyler over which is sometimes hard to do. Tyler has his playful moments, but he is also a very grouchy young man at times! Seems like the whole family likes this guy.........
So of course, I come home and corner him in the bathroom, demanding to know what his intentions are with my daughter. He remains calm, looks me in the eye, and says, "Sir, I plan to marry Christa one day. I think I love her." Well, what the hell could I say to that? I just told him that he could and would never love her more than me. And that if he messed up, I would be all over him!
Kasha told me I was too hard on the boy, but hey, we didn't get a chance to be hard on Tyson and we could have saved Christa a lot of heartache! Kasha decided after dinner that she wanted to play pool. She cheats! Bending over the table like that, it's distracting!
Yep, she's such a cheater! She always wins when she plays dirty like that! But we gotta go to bed eventually, and I plan to get her back!!!!

Rules & Regulations

-Pleasantview is divided into the Pleasantview Suburbs, a Downtown area, LaQuest Beach, BlueWater Village, Carson City, and the new PV Heights area. It contains 3 universities: Sim State, Academie Le Tour, and La Fiesta Tech. It also has Pleasantview High School (PVHS) and Pleasantview Elementary School (PVES).

Aging

So like most blogs I have seen, I'm organizing my aging behind Lakeside Heights, which is explained here. Basically everyone ages two years per round and I play each family for one month during those two years. I will switch up the months so that one family will not get stuck with the same month. I play each college for two years broken up into 4 different updates.

baby: 0-1
toddler: 1-3
Child: 4-11
Teen: 12-18
YA: 19-22
Adult: 23-60
Elder: 60+

At the moment, I'm still deciding who, in addition to in-game born sims and sims of my creation, I will keep as playables and who will become townies. When it goes beyond 24 households, then families will double up on the month they are played. I have the postponed silver years hack installed which means that my adult stage lasts for 42 days instead of 28 and my elders don't live as long.
My rounds begin in August and end in July 2 years later.

Taxes & Fees
Taxes are paid at the beginning of each round. I only take a property tax because as of right now, I don't have the patience to calculate individual income taxes! Each household pays 15% of the value of their property, belongings, and bank accounts. I get this amount from the neighborhood screen. Married couples get a credit of $1500 and everyone one gets $1000 per dependent. Dependents include children, college students, and any adult that may be living with the sim who they take care of (i.e. elderly parent or grandparent). The total amount collected is then doubled to account for all the townies, downtownies, and NPCs that also use city facilities. Out of this city budget come money for new city buildings and facilities, events, parks, etc.

Fees charged by Pleasantview include but are not limited to:
Marriage
Marriage license: $500 (required for all marriages/unions)
Home Ceremony: Free

Additional Venues
City Hall (Marriage only): $500
City Hall Banquet Hall (Full ceremony): $1000
The Lord's Heart Church (PV Suburbs): $1500
LaQuest Beach Community Church: $2000

Divorces are $1000 ($500 per party) and divorce proceedings will include custody and dissolvement of marital assets.
Funerals are $500 for a basic burial and $1000 for a memorial service.

Adoption
Baby: $5000
Todder: $2500
Child: $1500
Fertility Treaments: $2500; for women over 40 who have tried at least twice.

Education
PVHS and PVES are public schools and therefore free. Any parent wishing to enroll their child into private school will pay $1000 per school year.

Sim State University is state owned and there for education can be offered at a reduced price. A four year degree from Sim State is $8000 ($1000 per semester). It can all be paid in one lump sum or $2000 a year.

Academie Le Tour is a private university. Cost of attendence is $16000 which can be paid in one lump sum or yearly at a rate of $4000 a year.

La Fiesta Tech is a state owned college offering degrees in more technical fields. Cost of attendence is $6000 that can be paid in one lump sum or $1500 a year.

I have the no 20000 handout hack installed so:

A University student is awarded $5,000 for graduation, Magna Cum Laude.
$1,000 for graduation, regular.

Decisions in Pleasantview will be decided by the mayor and city council. The council will be made up up 10 member (borrowed from Simmington Hills):

These rules and regulations are all subject to change.

*I don't know.....too many rules? not enough? I don't want to become too bogged down, nor do I want to have to refer back to a bunch of notes to keep up with all of this!

Welcome to the View

Ok, so here we ok.....first post in the new format....let me know if it all makes sense....rules and regulations coming soon!

Rotation 1 - August 2009

Robert is 31, Regina is 28, and Jason is 13
Narrated by Robert Harris

I can't believe my luck! I never thought I would leave Simlifornia, but when you're offered the job of mayor, you don't turn that down! I'm Robert Harris, the first mayor of Pleasantview. How can a town exist without a governing body? The president of Simerica wondered it as well! Pleasantview has been around for many years, functioning off of money given to it. But no more! Our great President has decided that a city as big as Pleasantview with as many subdivisions as it has, should have its own governing body and accumulate its own wealth. And that's where I come in!
I'm young, but I've been around politics my whole life and I am so glad that I've gotten this opportunity. One of my first orders of business is to build a city council made up of sims from different departments within the city. You know, education, the police, etc. I'm also enforcing tax laws in which collection of taxes will begin this month. I'm sure I won't be very popular at first because of this, but Pleasantview is broke, and it's not receiving any more handouts!

One of the first sims to come in to pay his taxes was Craig Ray. He's a pretty big figure in the education around here and so I immediately decided to make him the director of education. He's the first official member of city council. He had no real problems with the taxes and said that he understood. Woulda been nice if everyone felt that way!
Most residents were pretty upset with me about them. Rochella Jalise McGaw was one of those people. She owns two stores in two subdivisions and is pretty upset that she can no longer just horde money made from them away. It amazes me that these sims think that life everywhere is like this! Sims pay taxes! It's a part of life! Even I have to pay taxes!
Aiden Taylor also didn't have a problem with the taxes, but he had a request that the city keep a library of all it's residents. His mother passed away a few years back and he wants her life to be on record. Who can argue with that? So Aiden Taylor also joins the City Council as Head Librarian.
Jayla Hammond was pretty nice, although I could tell that she too was upset about having to pay taxes. What were these sims doing with their money? I just don't understand it! She was also concerned that there weren't many community events for the public to enjoy. She wasn't interested in heading that division, but she said it would be right up her boyfriend's alley. I told her to have him call me so we could set up a meeting about him taking on the job.
Gabriella Elise Erikson was concerned with the crime in the city. Her father was murdered and it still hadn't been solved. She had no interest in joining the council on the security side of things, but she was concerned that there were plenty of gyms, but most of them didn't have steady memberships. She wanted to level some of the unnecessary buildings to make room for things we actually need. So I made her in charge of recreation!
I spent an entire day at the newly built city hall (which their tax money will be paying for!) that's located in Carson City. My wife Regina is right now a stay at home mom, but she is studying up on couples counseling and anger management so that she may one day open up a counseling center.
We only have one son, Jason, a pretty level-headed young man. He's 13 so the hormones haven't started raging too badly! You may notice that Regina is only 28 and wonder how we could already have a son that is 13, it's because we had him at a very early age. Regina stayed at home with him and her parents until I graduated from college and then we got a place together and I began working in politics. Regina has been talking alot about having another baby lately. Right now, I just want to get the city where it needs to be. I'm going to be pretty busy for these next few years!
We had plently of neighbors who stopped by to wish us well and to offer suggestions on things that Pleasantview needed. They are pretty quick to ask for things but no one wants to spend any money!
Jason't hormones aren't raging, but every now and then they take a peek out! He's becoming more and more interested in girls, although sometimes they aren't really interested in him......poor boy, he doesn't know this is only the beginning of being confused by the female species!
I work from home as much as I can right now, but that will change once I get a full staff going. I think Pleasantview will be ok if the citizens take an interest in what happens to them.
Jason started school here and found that he was actually a bit behind. This surprised me a little, but I've been helping him with his homework when I can so he should catch up soon.....
Our lives have changed so much since moving here, but the move has made us so much closer as a family. I think this may be the start of something wonderful.......
* I think this is going to be really fun! Is it doable? Can I take an existing hood and turn it around? I guess we'll see!!!!

A New Outlook

So ok......I'm about to jump on the bandwagon.......I love the blogs I've read where there is an economical system and schools where kids acually learn stuff! It's great! So I'm going to try to incorporate some of that into my game......I'm not starting over (I've grown too fond of my family), but I am going to change things up a bit as well as introduce new sims into the hood. So I guess I'll have to change the name of my blog! It will no longer be about the Taylor family only. I'm still trying to get everything organized and document all the current sim's ages, but I will be using the round system from Lakeside Heights......I think it sounds like such fun and I can't wait to fully try it out! So soon my posts will include a round number and the month that the post takes place. It will still be narrated by the sims themselves though.......stay tuned!

A New Chapter

SO much has been going on in the Hoh Fruhm House! I don't even know where to begin! For starters, Asia finally found the girl of her dreams in Caryl Day, another Hoh Fruhm girl who we didn't even know was gay, but we are so happy for them!
Lilith Pleasant and her sister Angela have both been coming to our parties. It's a bit strange seeing as how Fallon used to have a thing with Dirk, but we've all just gotten past that......well we THOUGHT we were past it!
We had a party and invited over a bunch of people and Lilith and Angela were in attendence. They seem to not like each other at all which is crazy since they're twins, but that's the way it is. Fallon was still fawning over Dirk and no one could tell her anything! We knew it was going to get ugly......and it did........
Lilith and Angela were outside brawling over God knows what by the end of the party. Dirk was pretty upset about it and I knew Fallon would want to come to his rescue. I told her not to, after all, her and Cash were doing great. He had already graduated but he came by all the time to see her.....I tried to tell her to drop Dirk.......
Cal and I are officially a couple now.....I don't know, it feels kinda good! He understands me and isn't turned off by how whishy washy I can be at times. He's a really special guy......He asked me about getting a place together when we graduated but I knew that I wasn't ready for that. He said it was ok, just to know that he would be at my apartment all the time!
After my dad was murdered, I was in a pretty crabby mood but Cal didn't let that keep him from me.....he pulled me out of my funk. AJ was as much of a dad to me as anyone else's and he was there after my biological dad screwed up everything. I miss him so much and I always will.......
Cal helped me take my mind off of it in everyway that he could......although I think this was his favorite way! I'm pretty sure I'm in love with him and I think that it's about time for me to tell him. The biggest thing that AJ's death taught me is that life is short and you have to live in every moment.
We came back and played Don't Wake the Llama with Jane. She was graduating soon and I knew I would miss her so I wanted to spend as much time with her as I could. She's a really special girl.
We decided to throw one last party for Jane. Now by this time, Jasmine and Gunnar had broken up and she had a new outlook on life........she didn't care who she was with, any love was good love.......we never thought that she would stoop this low, knowing how Fallon felt about Dirk, but she did.....
Fallon was dancing out in the living room when she saw Dirk come out of the room with Jasmine. Dirk didn't look her in the eyes, but tried to just walk on to the refrigerator like everything was fine.......it wasn't!
Fallon ran up to Dirk and slapped his face, screaming about how she couldn't believe he would do this with her sorority sister. Dirk yelled back saying that they weren't together and that he could do whatever they wanted to do. Fallon was furious!
She stormed off when Jasmine walked up proclaiming that Fallon was crazy and she didn't she what the big deal was......well that just seemed to piss Fallon off that much more........
She immediately called Cash over and started making out with him outside the house. I told her that was a childish thing to do and she couldn't keep using Cash to get back at Dirk. She assured me she wasn't and said that she didn't care what Dirk did.....
So here we are at the present. I'm graduating today and I couldn't be happier! My mom came to show her support even though she really hasn't been the same since AJ died. She's either angry or sad and I know it's the grief eating at her.....I hope she's going to be ok.......
Of course Cash came too. He tells me that he is so proud of me and is happy that I'll be moving to my own apartment........now we can finally have some privacy!
No one told Lilith about the mishap with Dirk, Fallon, and Jasmine. But by the look on her face, I think she knows now......I kinda feel sorry for the girl.....she's really got some demons to work out.........
Dirk and Jasmine have decided to continue their relationship...........I can't believe the two of them would do that to Fallon, but hopefully now she will let it go and concentrate on Cash before he finds someone else.......I'm just glad I'm moving out because all Jasmine and Fallon do now is fight!
A college grad, can you believe it? I'm so excited to start my new life.......it's been such a crazy ride so far, I can't wait to see where it leads me next!!!!

*I know this was a bit long and a bit rushed, but I got so behind with pictures when I was posting Taj's story.......I should be back up again soon! And FYI: ACR is crazy! They're so hormonal now!
